Unitree Robotics shares closed 460% above their initial public offering price on their Shanghai debut on Wednesday 19 August 2026, valuing the humanoid robot maker at about 342 billion yuan ($52 billion). The South China Morning Post said the stock opened even higher, up 629%, briefly putting its market value at about $66 billion.

The company, officially named Hangzhou Yushu Technology, said it is the first general-purpose humanoid robot maker to list on mainland China's stock market. It listed on Shanghai's tech-focused STAR Market.

Shares opened at 1,100 yuan, against an IPO price of 150.80 yuan, before closing at 845 yuan. About 23.2 billion yuan of shares changed hands during the session, according to [CNBC](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/08/19/china-backflipping-robot-maker-unitree-jumps-shanghai-ipo.html). Caixin said it was the biggest first-day jump for a new listing this year.

The IPO raised about 6.1 billion yuan by selling 40.45 million shares, or 10% of the company, well above its 4.2 billion yuan target, [the South China Morning Post reported](https://www.scmp.com/tech/tech-trends/article/3364499/unitree-robotics-surges-629-us66-billion-valuation-shanghai-share-debut). Founder Wang Xingxing, 36, holds about 121.4 million shares, worth about 103 billion yuan at the closing price. Meituan's 8.7% stake rose to nearly 30 billion yuan, about 70 times its original investment. Tencent is also an investor, and DeepSeek contributed about 140.8 million yuan.

The listing came as the broader market declined: the STAR Composite fell 7.2% and the Shanghai Composite fell 2.4% on the day.

Unitree shipped 5,900 humanoid robots in the first half of 2026, giving it 31% of the global market and second place behind Agibot, according to the notes. Chinese firms accounted for more than 97% of global humanoid robot shipments in that period.
