Microsoft unveils Surface Laptop Ultra and RTX Spark Dev Box
Both machines use Nvidia's RTX Spark technology to run large AI models locally, with prices from $2,600 to $6,000.

Microsoft announced two Nvidia RTX Spark devices, the Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, on 7 October.

Microsoft said the laptop supports up to 128GB of unified memory and can run models with more than 120 billion parameters locally.
Surface Laptop Ultra starts at $2,600. A stronger configuration starts at $3,700, and the top versions reach $5,900. The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box starts at $6,000.
Microsoft also said Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) is now generally available on Windows 11. The feature lets organisations run AI agents in controlled environments.
Microsoft said of the restrictions placed on those agents: "Those restrictions are enforced while an agent operates." The quote was reported by Tech Startups in its 8 October news roundup.
Microsoft expects to add more Copilot features over the coming months. It said these will use local context and act on users' behalf.
