The answer

Google said on 28 October it will take AI Mode ads global, and Alphabet shares fell 8%.

Google said on 28 October that ads in AI Mode will go global for the first time, announced during Alphabet's third-quarter earnings call. The company said it is also scaling ads within AI Overviews to more users and queries.

Philipp Schindler, Google's chief business officer, said: "This includes taking our monetization footprint global for the first time." He also said the company is "scaling high-quality ads within AI overviews in AI mode to more users and queries."

Google Search revenue grew 12% year over year in the third quarter, down from 17% in the second quarter and 19% in the first. Alphabet's total revenue was $127.6 billion, up 25%. Google Services, which includes Search, reported $96.3 billion, up 11%.

Alphabet shares fell 8% after the results. According to TechCrunch, Schindler said click-through rates for sponsored product listings in AI Mode are already comparable to those for organic listings.

Sundar Pichai, Google's chief executive, said Search "is bringing the benefits of AI to more people than any other product in the world."

Multi-turn ads are also being introduced alongside AI Mode ads in the United States, according to the report.

The article does not name the countries included in the international rollout, and the timing of that rollout has not been confirmed.
